Joyce is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) at the 200-hour level with Yoga Alliance. Her training is in Hatha Yoga, and she teaches Power Yoga and Gentle/Restorative Yoga. Having taught yoga for over a decade, her knowledge and passion for teaching is enhanced by continuous study and yoga workshops.
Her friendliness and love of people come naturally, enhancing your yoga experience. “Like fitness in general, yoga is physical, but more importantly, it is a sensory/mindful experience,” Joyce says. “Through thoughtful selection of the sequences of yoga poses and reminders about body awareness, breath work and accommodations, I hope that students walk away from my classes serenely positive and grounded.” Joyce focuses on providing a safe, nurturing environment. She accommodates students of different levels, and is committed to meeting them where they are.
Joyce has a B.A. in Communications. She worked in broadcast as a radio news anchor and television writer/reporter for several years. Prior to that, she worked in the fashion industry in the U.S. and in Italy. Her most recent position was Director of a private non-profit organization that served children and families dealing with social services.
She has traveled extensively in North America, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, and in Europe - where she once lived. Other hobbies besides travel, yoga and fitness include baking, studying Spanish and Italian, and reading. She is married with two sons.
