Greetings Yogis and Yoginis!!!  Watch for the April newsletter on your email desk tomorrow around 10:00 a.m., no foolin’!!!  This week at YFL we will be focusing on weight-bearing through traditional hatha yoga postures, and the use of hand weights. Our emphasis will be on sculpting, toning, and strengthening. This week’s Sanskrit focus is “Nabhi”, which is our navel center, and the seat of our physical well-being. Our hand mudra is “Surya”, and draws on Universal energy to re-energize us, and to promote creativity. Come and join us on the mat!!! We can’t wait to see you!!!—Namaste’, Debphoto-440

3/24-3/30 @ YFL

Greetings!!! This week we will focus on Body Harmony, or bringing the mind, body, and heart into balance. Our Sanskrit focus is Brosa, which means to trust the process, and our mudra is Shuni to develop patience, discernment, and commitment. Our new challenge will be to increase our stay time in the tree balance, and shift our focus overhead to our hands. We can’t wait to see you on the mat this week!!!—Namaste’, Debphoto-450

3/17-3/22/14 @ YFL

Greetings and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!  Following two weeks of very strong practices this week will entail ushering in the Vernal Equinox with Mandala Salutations and Restoration!!! Our Sanskrit focus is “Mandala”, which means circle, connection, and/or community. Our mudra is the “Yoga Mudra”, or a crossed legged seated fold, and this full body mudra signifies unity. We can’t wait to see you on the mat this week!!!—Namaste’, Debphoto-443

A Picture of Inspiration

For the past three months at YLF I gave my students the challenge of working up to holding the plank pose for 3 minutes. We have increased our stay by 15 seconds per week with a couple weeks off for restorative practices, and/or holiday breaks. I am proud to announce that everyone has improved the pose, their strength, and staying power all of which has transferred into other facets of their yoga practice. I am particularly proud of Opal, a young lady of 89 years, that held the pose for 3-minutes in class yesterday!!! What an inspiration!!! WAY TO GO OPAL!!!—Namaste’, Debphoto-453

3/10-3/15/14 @ YFL!!!

Greetings!!!

This is IT!!! We have arrived!!! This is the culmination of our 3 month progression toward staying a 3-minute plank!!! LET’S DO THIS!!! Our practice this week promotes a healthy spine with lots of twisting, our Mudra is the “Rudra” for staying centered through the Solar Plexus chakra, and our Sanskrit focus is “Veda”, which means wisdom and/or knowledge. We can’t wait to see you on the mat this week as we “Turn It Up”!!!—Namaste’, Debphoto-452
