Weight Time

photo-520Greetings Yogis and Yoginis!!!

Yes, it is weight time, or time to sculpt, tone, and strengthen by bearing our own body weight, and then learning to incorporate hand weights into the asana practice. Our mudra is Akashi for dropping into inner awareness, and evoking calmness. Our Sanskrit focus is Samyama, or self -control, which leads to contentment.

YFL is CLOSED 7/3-7/6 in observance of the 4th of July. Our normal schedule will resume on Monday, 7/7/14.

We had a fabulous retreat on 6/28!!! Thank you Sophie and Jill for the yoga and art portion. Here are some pictures of our activities!!!photo-522photo-521

Greetings from YFL!!! This week’s practice will emphasize vitality, energy, and expansion. We will also salute the sun, as we just celebrated the Summer Solstice. Join Deb for an invigorating and energizing practice that will “open your heart”. The Sanskrit focus is “AUM Kakani Namaha”, which means activating love via the heart chakra. Our mudra is “Apan Vayu”, which promotes a healthy heart. The studio is closed this Saturday, as Deb and Sophie will be hosting an all day retreat at Vina de Lestonnac (6/28/14). Deb is beginning a new Meditation I series this Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. (6/24/14), and you may still sign-up. Email, phone, or drop-in to register. As always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb

Greetings from YFL!!!

This week is all about using the WALL as a prop of resistance to intensive the depth of our asana practice. The WALL creates leverage for deepening the stretch factor of the our poses.

Our Mudra is the “Pran”, which emphasizes overcoming fatigue, and improving vision.

The weekly Sanskrit focus is “SHREE” or “SRI”, which refers to one that has abundance, prosperity, and light. The attributes are shared to the world.

Our new Summer Schedule begins next Monday, and will include a new Meditation I class with Deb on Tuesday afternoon, from 2:30-3:30 p.m., and will begin on 6/24. Registration is currently open.  In addition, Meditation II will now be offered on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Thursday of each month from 7:30-8:00 p.m.

Come in and stay cool, get strengthened and toned, and de-stressed for all of your summer activities. You may also register for the day retreat to Vina de Lestonnac through 6/21. Registration for the Fall Retreat to Sedona closes on 6/25. We can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb

Greetings from YFL, and Happy Summer!!! I know, I know, the solstice isn’t until later this month, but school is out, so it feels like summer!!! With the weather warming up this is the perfect time to cool down with “restorative yoga”, and thus this week’s emphasis on restoring, renewing, and relaxing. Our Sanskrit focus is “Radha” or success and fortune, as we contemplate gratitude for all that we have. The hand gesture or mudra this week is the “Budhi”, which regulates and brings balance to our water metabolism, and also improves our sense of taste. We can’t wait to see you on the mat this week!!!

There is still time to register for the “Stay Centered 1-day Retreat” @ beautiful Vina de Lestonnac Retreat Center in the heart of our stunning Temecula wine country. Sophie will lead our Ayurvedic yoga practice, I will lead the chanting, meditation, and yoga nidra, and Jill will conduct the afternoon acrylic painting. All day is $79, morning with lunch is $54, and afternoon only is $39 (no lunch). We will begin at 9 a.m., and conclude at 4 p.m. The deadline for registration is 6/21/14.
