Yoga Training and Certifications

Deb Potts has studied under several renowned experts
Instructor Deb Pottsin the practice of Yoga including Sarah Powers, Scott Blossom, Gary Kraftsow, Cherri Clampett, Arturo Peal, and Colette Herrick. Deb completed an intensive teacher certification program at the Santa Barbara Yoga Center under the instruction of Sarah Powers. She also completed a 60 hour study program in the Viniyoga system, originated by 20th century Yoga Master Sri T. Krishnamacharya, under the direction of Colette Herrick, Park City, Utah. Viniyoga is the premier therapeutic yoga discipline, taught worldwide.

In 2006, Deb successfully completed the rigorous requirements for the designation of 200 hour Registered Yoga Alliance (RYT-200), and also completed the certification requirements to conduct classes in Transformation Meditation. Deb’s most recent training accomplishment, in November, 2007, was completion of a 35 hour study program in Yoga therapy with the designation of Certified Yoga Therapist (*CYT).

Deb’s dedication and extensive Yoga education enable her to offer students expertly guided Yoga practices along with insights into the benefits of each asana. Students learn how to practice Yoga safely and integrate Yoga into their daily lives.

Education and Interests

Deb Potts earned a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude, in Zoology from Texas A & M University, where she also earned a Master of Science, Summa Cum Laude, in Marine Biology. She is a certified secondary education teacher in the states of California, Nevada, and Texas where she has taught Biology, Physiology and Anatomy, Bio II AP, and Oceanography. Her 19 years of classroom experience transitioned well into her Yoga instruction, enabling her to easily articulate in a class setting, and to develop instruction plans for sequencing practice outcomes for students.

In addition to her academic endeavors, Deb studied Taekwondo, earning a Second Degree Black Belt, and a 1999 WTTU Taekwondo World Championship. She enjoys the sports of golf and snow skiing, along with her husband, John, and son, Taylor.
