Back to the wall!!!

This week we return to the wall, and all of the advantages that it adds to our practice. Use of the wall as a prop provides an antagonistic strength to our poses, which then transfers to use of our muscles in the asana practice without the wall. It also helps us to refine our balance and alignment. This week’s practice will also incorporate the use of chairs at the wall. None of this means an easy, lazy, or wimpy practice, quite the contrary. You may discover muscles that you didn’t know you had this week!!!

Our Sanskrit focus is “SHUM”, which means “I am inspired”. Our mudra is “SHANKH”, or the shell, and applies to our inner temple, in which our Source light shines. This mudra promotes opening this temple, and letting our light shine through connection.

Samantha Keith’s PIYO workshop is this Saturday, 8/23 @ $12, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. She will be introducing a practice style that infuses pilates and yoga. It will be a strong practice, but appropriate for all levels.

We can’t wait to see you on the mat this week!!! (8/18-8/23)—Namaste’, Deb
