Let’s Meetup @ ‘The Wall’!!!

Greetings from YFL!!!  What an exciting week we will share at YFL this week!!! We will be celebrating our 13th Anniversary!!! On Wednesday, October 16, YFL turns 13!!! For 13 years we have been helping EVERYONE conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, and live in the breath!!! We have provided quality instruction, infused with love, expertise, and experience!!! We have done our best to accommodate the needs of each individual practitioner that steps on their mat at our studio!!! We take pride in providing a safe, clean, nurturing sanctuary experience, while stretching the mind, body, and heart!!! We have students that have practiced with us from the very beginning, and many more that have been loyal students for many years. As we continue serving the yoga community in the coming years, we never lose focus on why we provide yoga, and who we provide yoga and meditation for in the vast population of Yogis and Yoginis!!! We will continue to make EACH AND EVERY STUDENT comfortable and welcome, as they practice with us!!! We could not have attained 13 years of providing yoga without great teachers, facility, and above all great, wonderful, and faithful students!!! We thank you (Dhanya Vad) from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support!!! This week will be filled with celebration, so come enjoy the treats, and door prizes, as we turn 13!!!

This week’s practice will utilize ‘The Wall’ as a prop for focus, alignment, and power. Our Sanskrit focus is ‘Dhanya Vad’, as we express gratitude to our teachers and students at YFL, and another year of service at YFL!!! Our mudra is the ‘Thankfulness’ hand gesture, as we give thanks, and acknowledge all that is good!!! Our meditation focus is ‘Gratitude’, and may be contemplated, while listening to Kiran Murti’s ‘Divine Imagination’.

Our Yin practice will focus on a healthy back, or ‘Spinal Bliss’!!!

Return to Restoration (Triple ‘R’ Week)…Aaaahhhh!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! Let’s Restore, Renew, and Relax this week!!! Yes, it is Triple ‘R’ time at YFL!!!  Aaahhh!!! We will use lots of props, take long deep breaths, and release deeply into our asanas!!! Our Sanskrit focus is ‘SVADHYAYA’, or self meditation & reflection…to study one’s own self. Our mudra (hand gesture) is ‘DHARMACHAKRA’, or the ‘Wheel of Life’ mudra. It has a calming, soothing effect on all levels and imparts equanimity. Our meditation focus is ‘CALMNESS’, and may be reflected upon as we listen to Michael Hoppe’s ‘Wind Songs’, ‘Silence of the Stars’.

Our Yin practice will focus on opening the energy of the hips, and releasing tension from this very important joint in our bodies. It is ‘Happy Hips’ week for Yin!!!

Next week we celebrate YFL’s 13th anniversary!!! There will be treats, and door prizes all week, when you attend one of Deb’s classes!!! Come join the FUN, and bring a friend!!!

‘Weight Time’!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! This is ‘Weight Time’ week!!! We are going to sculpt, tone, and strengthen with the use of hand weights in our asana practice!!! This week’s Yin practice will focus on balancing the seven chakras. Our hand gesture is the ‘Narayana’ Mudra. This mudra is dedicated to the spirit of new beginnings-new projects, circumstances, and or relationships. Our  Sanskrit focus is ‘Sraddha’, which is an intense convictions or sense of faith. Our meditation focus is ‘Patience’. Our music selection is from David Lanz’s ‘Paradise’ CD,  ‘From the other Side’.

We start a new month tomorrow, so it is time for your monthly YFL newsletter!!! It will be on your email desk around 10 a.m. on 10/1!!!

On 10/5, Sophie will be offering her ‘Yoga For Emotional Liberation’ 2-hour workshop from 1-3 p.m. @ $25.

The week of 10/14-10/19, YFL will be celebrating its 13th year!!! Come join the fun with treats and door prizes at each of Deb’s classes!!! This is always an exciting and celebratory time at the studio!!!

Let’s Flow with Power!!!

Greetings from YFL, and happy Autumnal Equinox!!! It is going to be a wonderful Fall Season at YFL, as we welcome in the change of season, Fall colors, and hopefully, cooling temperatures!!! Our Fall Schedule of classes will remain unchanged!!!

This week’s practice will emphasize flow + power, or ‘Classic Hatha’ week!!! Our Sanskrit focus is ‘Ananda’, or ‘Bliss’, the condition of utter joy!!! Our mudra (hand gesture) is the ‘Vayu’, or wind mudra. This hand gesture evokes being positive, releasing positive affirmations of truth. Our meditation focus is ‘Pure Bliss’, and may be contemplated while listening to Tom Barabas’s CD ‘Nuage’, and his song entitled ‘Clouds’.

Yin practice will help promote ‘Healthy Digestion’ this week!!!

PLEASE NOTE: Qigong meets from 6-7 p.m. every Monday w/Jan Tucker!!!

Meet at the Wall!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! This is the week that we return to the ‘Wall’ for our practice!!! We use the wall as a prop of resistance, focus, and alignment!!! Our Sanskrit focus is ‘AUM’, the primordial sound from the creation of the Universe. Its’ vibrational energy is trapped in the molecules of all living and nonliving things, and serves as a connectional and unifying force. Our mudra (hand gesture) is ‘USHAS’, or connecting to all things good. The meditation focus for the week is ‘AUM’, and the music for contemplation is ‘Meditation’.

Our Yin practice will focus on opening and releasing tension in the hip joint, so it is ‘Happy Hips’ week!!!

Kim will be offering Reiki I on Sunday, September 21st, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Contact Deb to register!!!

Sophie’s ‘Yoga For Emotional Liberation’ two hour workshop will be offered on Saturday, October 5th, from 1-3 p.m. @ $25. Pre-registration and payment are appreciated.

I would like to extend gratitude and heartfelt thanks to a generous donation made by my Wednesday morning Yoginis to the American Heart Associaion, in Memoriam and honor of the passing of my beloved dad. This gesture touched me deeply. I am humbled by your love, support, and understanding!!!

Triple ‘R’ Week-Rest, Renew, and Restore

Greetings from YFL!!! As most of you know by now, my beloved dad passed from this world into the next on 8/26/19. Throughout this two weeks of roller coaster emotions, I have felt the love, support, and understanding of ALL OF YOU. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the cards, flowers, and donations. The love of our human connections during the loss of a loved one is the key to making it through the darkness of death. Love is the light that sees us through. I would also like to extend deep gratitude, and admiration for the support of Sophie, Summer, Kim, and Joyce as they took over the classes and maintenance of YFL in my absence. Stating appreciation seems so shallow for all that they did for me during this difficult time.

LIfe is good, and we continue on with that goodness in our hearts!!! This week is ‘Triple ‘R’ Week’. We come to the mat to restore, renew, and relax. Our Sanskrit focus is ‘Dhanya Vad’, or ‘Thank You’. The supporting hand gesture is ‘The Grounding Mudra.  This week’s Yin practice will balance the ranges of motion of the spine, or ‘Spinal Bliss’.

There is still time to sign-up for Sophie’s ‘Ayurvedic Workshop’. It meets this Wednesday evening at  6:00 p.m. Kim is offering Reiki I on 9/21, and Sophie’s ‘Yoga For Emotional Liberation’ workshop is 9/28. Contact Deb to register for any of these events.

To the ‘Wall & Beyond’!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! This week will meet at ‘The Wall’, which provides a beautiful prop for focus, alignment, and power. What we learn about our body & poses at the wall will, then, transfer out on the mat and away from the wall. Our Sanskrit focus is ‘Santosha’, or trying to find contentment within all that life throws at us, each and every day. Our mudra (hand gesture) is the ‘Dhanyi’, which promotes deep concentration into attaching to the energy of ‘Spirit’.

This week’s Yin practice will focus on ‘Spinal Bliss’, or stretching and relaxing the back into its full potential of ‘range of motion’ and flexibility. We will fold, backbend, side bend, and twist the spine.

We have several ‘Special Events’ on the horizon for the month of September: 1. 9/7 ‘The Tibetan Bowl Healing Sound Concert w/Betty & Peter. Please sign up at YFL, or email, to preregister. The cost is $25, and we will enjoy the concert from 1-3 p.m.  2. 9/4-Sophie starts a four week workshop on ‘Ayurveda’, and pre-registration is required. The class will meet for four consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. 3. 9/28-Sophie will offer her quarterly ‘Yoga For Emotional Liberation’ workshop from 1-3 p.m. @ $25. Please register at the studio.

Triple ‘R’ Week: Rest, Renew, and Relax!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! Aaahhh!!! It is Triple ‘R’ Week on the mat!!!  We will relax, renew, and restore with props, and deep, contemplative stretching with our breath!!! Our Sanskrit focus is ‘Lila’, or ‘Divine Play’ with ‘Spirit’!!! Our hand gesture (mudra) focus is for ‘Contemplation’, or to ‘Listen Carefully’. Our meditation focus is ‘Kindness’, and is supported with the beautiful music from David Lanz, entitled ‘Cristifori’s Dream’.

This week’s Yin practice will balance your Chakra System with poses, Tibetan Bowls, color focus, and anatomy.

We have two special events coming in September, and both require pre-registration and pre-payment: 9/7-Is the Tibetan Bowl Healing Concert w/Betty & Peter, which will be preceded with Yoga Nidra led by Deb @ $25, from 1-3 p.m., and on 9/28-Sophie’s ‘Yoga For Emotional Liberation’ workshop @ $25, from 1-3 p.m.

School is back in session this week, so be extra cautious with your driving around town. We are sending positive energy out for a successful, safe, and great school year for Administrators, Teachers, Students, and Parents!!!  BE KIND!!!  So, parents, it is time to get back to the mat, and your regular schedule!!!

‘Weight Time’ (8/5-8/10/19)

Greetings from YFL, and Happy August!!! We usher in the ‘Down Dog Days of Summer’ this month!!! This week is ‘Weight Time’!!! We will add 1 or 2 lb. hand weights to enhance strength building, sculpting, and toning during our practice this week!!! Our Sanskrit focus is ‘Siddho Hum’, or ‘I am Wholeness’. Our hand gesture (mudra) is ‘Be Kind’, or ‘Apan-Vayu’. This gesture promotes a healthy heart, and a practice of inner and outer kindness. Our meditation focus is ‘World Peace’, AUM Shanti, Shanti, Shanti. Music for meditation-‘One Moment in Time’ by Ann Sweeten.

This week’s Yin practice will promote ‘Healthy Digestion’.

Please note that Jan is away on retreat this week, and Qigong WILL NOT MEET on 8/5, but will resume at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, 8/12.

Our Quarterly Tibetan Bowl Healing Concert will be on Saturday, September 7th, from 1-3 p.m. The concert will be preceded by Yoga Nidra practice with Deb to help ease you into a deep state of inner consciousness, and enhance your Tibetan Bowl experience. The cost is $25, and pre-registration and payment are required. SPACE IS LIMITED, so sign up ASAP!!!

Bonus Week-Majority Rules-Select Sukha-Stirrha or Restorative!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! Your practice is ‘just that’…’Your Yoga’. This is a split week between July and August, so it is ‘Bonus Week’. Each class votes on a practice of Sukha-Stirrha (Yin-Yang), or Restorative!!! Majority rules!!! Our Sanskrit focus is ‘Shivo Hum’, or ‘My awareness is pure, creative stillness’. Our mudra (hand gesture) is the classic ‘Prayer’, which connects to ‘Source’. Our meditation focus is ‘Shanti’, Peace. The music selection for meditation is from Tom Barabas’ CD ‘Clouds’, and the song is Moon Dust.

This week’s Yin practice will open the hips…our ‘Happy Hips’ sequence!!!

Sophie is continuing to offer ‘Yoga For Emotional Liberation’ on Wednesday evenings from 6-7:15 p.m., and Summer’s Friday morning classes are ongoing with Yin @ 8:15 & Glow & Restore @ 9:30!!!

Classic Hatha-Power + Vinyasa!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! This is our traditional week of Classic Hatha practice. The physical intent is to develop power, and movement via Vinyasa!!! Our Sanskrit focus is ‘AIEEM NAMAH’, or ‘My true nature is Love and Joy!!! Our supporting hand gesture (mudra) is the ‘GROUNDING’ gesture for connection, stability, and grounding. Our Meditation focus is ‘Love &  Joy’.

This week’s Yin practice will bring balance to your spinal column and back, as we enjoy ‘Spinal Bliss’.

Sophie’s ‘Yoga For Emotional Liberation’ resumes this week on Wednesday from 6-7:15 p.m., and Jan’s Qigong continues every Monday evening from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Our quarterly ‘Tibetan Bowl Concert’ is coming up soon!!! It will be on Saturday, September 7th from 1-3 p.m. @ $25. Space is limited, so sign up ASAP!!!

Our new Summer Session Schedule is in full swing!!! Enjoy a new class with Sophie on Monday evening, and two new classes with Summer on Friday morning. Also, Deb has a new class at 5:30 on Thursday evenings!!! Sophie’s ‘Yoga For Emotional Liberation’ will resume next Wednesday, 7/24, @ 6:00 p.m., so you can still enroll!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! WELCOME BACK SOPHIE AND SUMMER!!! Please consult the website schedule for their NEW CLASS OFFERINGS this week!!! We hope you enjoyed your vacations!!! We are so glad to have you back at YFL!!!

This week’s class with Deb will emphasize restoration-renew, restore, and relax!!! Our Sanskrit focus is ‘Bhakti’, or your personal pathway of Devotion. The supporting hand gesture (mudra) is the classic ‘Dhanya’ for promoting contemplation and meditation. Deb’s Yin classes this week will incorporate poses for ‘Good Digestion’. Our meditation focus is ‘To Be Present’. Our meditation music selection is ‘White Dove’ from Classical Piano & Cello CD.

It is beginning to warm up outdoors, so come in to the studio to cool down, and stretch out!!! It will be another fantastic week at YFL, and as always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb

‘Weight Time’-Happy July, it is weight week on the mat!!!

Greetings from YFL, and Happy July!!! As we welcome in a new month that always means it is “Weight Week” on the mat!!! The YFL staff wishes you and yours a most Happy 4th of July holiday!!! Enjoy the festivities, and stay safe!!! In observance of the holiday, YFL will BE CLOSED 7/4-7/7. Our new Summer Schedule will resume on Monday, 7/8. Please consult the Class Schedule on our website: www.yogaforlife06.com for all the new class offerings!!!

Our physical practice will emphasize baring weight, our own body weight, and the use of hand weights. This promotes strong bone health, increased strength, power, and muscle toning. Our Sanskrit focus is one of the eight limbs of yoga, Pratyahara, or to withdraw from external stimuli, and remained focused and connected to the body via the breath. Our mudra is ‘The Grounding Hand Gesture’. This helps stay focused, grounded, and connected. Our meditation focus is ‘Freedom’, and the music selection is Tom Baraba’s CD Nuages, the song is ‘Clouds’.

Our first annual ‘Great Yoga Adventure to The Bowery’ was so much fun!!! Everyone had a great time, and gave the The Bowery an A+ for food, atmosphere, and service!!! The yoga wasn’t too bad either!!! You just have to come next time, if you were unable to attend this one!!!

Sophie’s 4-week Yoga For Emotional Liberation workshop begins on 7/10. It will meet from 6-7 p.m. for four consecutive Wednesday evenings. The cost is $65, and there is still time to register.

Yoga Basics and Intro to Yoga w/Deb are now by appointment for individuals or small groups. If you are interested in learning or brushing up on basic fundamentals and principles of yoga, then please email or drop-in to register. Yoga Basics is now a 90 minute class @$40. Meditation I is by appointment, and includes a single 120 minute class @ $70.

It will be another wonderful week at YFL (although short)!!! So, get your yoga in on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week!!! As always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb

Classic Hatha + Solstice Celebration!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! This week will focus on ‘Classic Hatha’, which will emphasize flow + power. Our Sanskrit focus is ‘Namaste’, or the light in me honors the light in you. Our mudra (hand gesture) is Jnana , or the classic gesture for connecting to Universal Energy. The meditation focus is ‘Light’, and our music support is offered by Michael Hoppe’s ‘Star Light’.

Yin will focus on maintaining a ‘Balanced Back’, as we work the full range of motion of the spine.

Our new SUMMER SESSION starts on 6/24, and should be on the website soon, but in the meantime here are the new offerings:

Mon-Same

Tues-Same, except, Sophie will now teach the 6:00 p.m., class. Deb will still be teaching the 4:15 Yin.

Wed-morning classes the same, eliminate Summer’s 11:15 and 12:30 classes, add a 4-week Yoga For Emotional Liberation class at 6:00 p.m. w/Sophie @ $65, begins on 7/12.

Th-eliminate the 4:15 & 6:00 p.m. class, add a NEW 5:30-6:30 p.m. w/Deb (Sukha -Stirha)

Fri-the 8:15 class is Yin, 9:30 class is Glow & Restore w/Summer

Sat-the same

Yoga  Basics and Meditation I are now by request for individuals, or small groups. The Yoga Basics will be a 90 minute class @ $40, and the Meditation I will be a 120 minute class @ $70.

The Great Yoga Adventure is on 6/30 @ The Bowery in Fullerton from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.  A couple of spots remaining. If you are attending DON’T FORGET YOUR MAT AND OTHER PROPS YOU NORMALLY USE!!! This is going to be a BLAST!!!
