Classic Hatha Week-Flow + Power

Greetings from YFL!!! I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving Holiday!!! Now it is time to return to the mat to re-fuel and re-energize for the upcoming holiday celebrations. Your practice will boost your energy, and prepare you to deal with all the stress associated with a huge “to do list”!!!

This week’s practice will focus on Classic Hatha with flow and power. The mudra support is the classic Jnana, or hand gesture for connecting to Universal Knowledge. Our Sanskrit focus is AUM Adi Shakti Namah for connection to Universal Life Energy.

Our Yin practice will create Spinal Bliss, as we work the full range of motion of the back. Deb will also share some of her favorite poetry during this class on Tu/Th @ 4:15 p.m., and Sat @ 8:15 a.m.

Our meditation focus is “PATIENCE”, and may be focused upon while listening to Ann Sweeten’s “One Moment in Time”.

It will be a great week at YFL, so come grab some peace, tranquility, and healthy movement!!! As always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb

Triple “R” Week-Rest, Renew, and Restore

Greetings from YFL!!! Happy Veterans’ Day!!! We express extreme gratitude for all those who have served, and are serving to maintain and protect our freedom, along with their families. We are open today (11/12), and invite you to come to the mat to RESTORE this week. We will stretch deeply with the use of props, and let our minds “BE STILL”. Our Sanskrit focus is DHANYA, which  is one of the eight limbs of yoga practice, and translates as  “to meditate or contemplate”. Our supporting hand gesture (mudra) is the GANESHA, which aids in overcoming obstacles along our path of life. Our meditation focus is “BE STILL”, and may be contemplated while enjoying the music of Kiran Murti’s “Divine Imagination”.

This week’s Yin practice will focus on the balancing of the seven chakras, and Deb will utilize the Tibetan bowls to help achieve this state of balance.

The monthly Sangha (community) meditation class is this Thursday (11/15) from 7:30-8:00 p.m. Our Dharana, or focal point will be Candle Gazing, or Trataka. This class is FREE, and open to ALL!!!

YFL will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday on 11/22-11/25.

Weight Time!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! It is “Weight Time” at the studio this week!!! Be prepared to bare your own body weight, and to use 1-2 lb. hand weights (opt.)!!! We will sculpt, tone, and strengthen. Our Sanskrit focus is “AUM RAM RAMAYA”, which evokes balance for all aspects of our lives. The supporting hand gesture (mudra) is the “GROUNDING MUDRA”. Our meditation focus for this week is ‘BALANCE’. The music selection for meditation is David Lanz’s, “Lost in Paradise”.

This week’s Yin class will emphasize the hips, and their range of motion. This class meets on Tu/Th from 4:15-5:15 p.m., and on Saturday morning from 8:15-9:15 a.m. It is meditative, and provides a safe, deeply penetrating stretch to the connective tissues. It is the compliment to our regular practice, and is essential for maintaining our physical balance.

In observation of Thanksgiving, YFL will BE CLOSED 11/22-11/25.  Intro to Yoga, and Meditation I will resume in the New Year (2019), so watch for the Winter Scheduling.
