Weight Time!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! It is “Weight Time” at the studio this week!!! Be prepared to bare your own body weight, and to use 1-2 lb. hand weights (opt.)!!! We will sculpt, tone, and strengthen. Our Sanskrit focus is “AUM RAM RAMAYA”, which evokes balance for all aspects of our lives. The supporting hand gesture (mudra) is the “GROUNDING MUDRA”. Our meditation focus for this week is ‘BALANCE’. The music selection for meditation is David Lanz’s, “Lost in Paradise”.

This week’s Yin class will emphasize the hips, and their range of motion. This class meets on Tu/Th from 4:15-5:15 p.m., and on Saturday morning from 8:15-9:15 a.m. It is meditative, and provides a safe, deeply penetrating stretch to the connective tissues. It is the compliment to our regular practice, and is essential for maintaining our physical balance.

In observation of Thanksgiving, YFL will BE CLOSED 11/22-11/25.  Intro to Yoga, and Meditation I will resume in the New Year (2019), so watch for the Winter Scheduling.

Bonus Week!!!-Sukha & Stirha (or Yin & Yang)

Greetings from YFL!!! This is BONUS WEEK, as we conclude October, and begin November!!! For this reason, we will delay weight week until next week, and practice Sukha (Yin) and Stirha (Yang) this week. It will be a blended practice that unifies the energetic forces of cool/warm, feminine/masculine, and powerful/graceful!! Our Sanskrit focus will be ‘Bhakti’, or your path of devotion, and what that means to you individually!!! Our hand gesture focus is the ‘Priority Mudra’, and will help us set priorities, while reducing stress, steadying our nerves, and giving us inner strength. Our weekly meditation focus is “Balance”, and may be contemplated, while listening to Enya’s “Watermark”.

ATTENTION: Sophie’s 6 p.m. class will NOT meet the evening of Halloween, 10/31!!! Deb’s morning classes will be held that day!!!

There is still time to register for Meditation I, which will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m., 11/6-12/4, each Tuesday evening for 5-weeks. The fee is $70.

Reiki I will be held with Kim on 11/11 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Registration is open.

The next Sangha (community) meditation practice will be on 11/15 from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m., and it is FREE!!!

Our 200-hour Teacher Training programs is scheduled to begin on 1/9/19. Registration is currently open, and the deadline is 12/9!!! Register soon!!!

On December 8th, Betty & Peter, will be hosting there second Tibetan Bowl Healing Sound Concert from 1-3 p.m. Only a few spots remain open, and the fee is $25!!!

Classic Hatha Week: Vinyasa + Power

Greetings from YFL!!! Thanks to all that participated in celebrating our 12th anniversary of business last week!!! What fun we had!!! Now to embark upon our 13th year of practice!!! This week we hone in on flow with power, or Classic Hatha!!! Our Sanskrit focus is “LILA”, or Divine Playfulness. The mudra is the “VAYU”, or wind hand gesture, which evokes positive, benevolent, and affirmative thoughts. It also improves sciatica and rheumatoid arthritis. Our weekly meditation focus is “To Be Positive”!!! The music for meditation is from Sedona Suites by Tom Barabas, and I chose “Moon Dust”.

This week’s Yin practice will focus on holding poses that promote “Good Digestion”. A reminder that this class is available on Tu/Th from 4:15-5:15 p.m., and Saturday from 8:15-9:15 a.m. This class is appropriate for ALL LEVELS!!!

Registration is OPEN for the 2019 Artistry of Yoga 200-hour Teacher Training program through December 9th. A full description of this training program is on our website. Simply hit the AOY icon, and all the details will be revealed. www.yogaforlife06.com.

We have just a few remaining slots open for the 12/8 Tibetan Healing Sound Concert. It is 1-3 p.m., and the cost is $25. The next Meditation I session will begin on November 6th, and extend to December 4th. We will meet for 5 consecutive Tuesday evenings. The cost is $70, and pre-registration + payment are required prior to 11/6.

Resist the Wall & Happy 12th Anniversary YFL!!!

Wow, Wow, and Wow!!! Where have 12 years gone?!!! The answer is…”ON THE MAT”,  with wonderful times, people, adventures, yoga, kirtan, and meditation!!! I would like to extend my utmost gratitude and thanks to all of you for making this anniversary celebration possible. It is your support and attendance throughout the years that has made it possible!!! We never take your attendance for granted, and are humbled!!! Twelve years is a most auspicious number to celebrate!!! All week Deb will be offering treats (Rooibos Chai Tea & Dark Chocolate covered almonds w/sea salt)…no tricks, and drawings for door prizes!!! Come join the fun!!!

This week’a practice finds us back at the The Wall for resistance, focus, and alignment!!! Our Sanskrit focus is “DHANYA VAD”, or a big thank you for 12 years of service and teaching to the Temecula Valley!!! Our hand gesture (mudra) is for “Thankfulness”, and acknowledging what is good!!! It also promotes healthy lungs, and a strong immune system!!!

The Yin practice will help you balance your Chakra system, and will include the sounding of the Tibetan Bowls!!!

Our meditation focus is “Gratitude”, and may be contemplated upon while listening to Kiran Murti’s “Sweet Dreams”.

The Three “Rs” of Yoga: Restore, Renew, and Relax!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! It is time to practice our 3 “Rs”!!! Let’s restore, renew, and relax this week on the mat!!! Our practice will emphasize stretching deeply with breath and props at the forefront!!! Our Sanskrit focus is “Aham Prema”, or “The flowing energy of love” to promote gratitude and grace. Our hand gesture or mudra is the “Naga” or “Decision” gesture for “choosing well”. This week’s Yin practice will focus on hip opening, or “Happy Hips Week”!!!

Don’t miss next week at YFL!!! We will be celebrating our 12th Anniversary!!! There will be door prizes, treats, hot tea, and a great yoga practice all week!!! Don’t miss this fun celebration!!!

Yoga For Life will BE CLOSED on 11/22-11/25 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday!!!

The Tibetan Bowl Healing Concert will be on 12/8 @ 1-3 p.m. The cost is $25, and we just have a few spots left, so sign up ASAP!!!

Time to “Weigh In”: Yes, it is weight week!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! Happy October!!! The beginning of the Fall Season, The Harvest Moon, Halloween, and celebrating YFL’s 12th anniversary!!! What a fun month we have ahead of us!!! Check your October YFL newsletter for all the details!!! It will appear on your email desk at 10 a.m. today!!!

This week we focus on building strength and stamina, toning and sculpting!!! We emphasize bearing our own body weight, and you may also opt to use hand weights for a portion of the practice. Our Sanskrit focus is Ravi Hum. This mantra recognizes the radiance and spirit of the sun’s energy. Our mudra (hand gesture) will be the “Matangi”. This mudra promotes harmony, balance, and strength. It also maintains healthy internal organs, ears and eyes. This week’s Yin practice will strengthen, support, and maintain a “healthy back”!!! Our meditation focus will be “Harmony”. The music selection for supporting your time in meditation is from Michael Hoppe’s Wind Songs CD, and the piece is entitled “Silence”.

Come join our week long celebration of YFL’s 12th anniversary, 10/15-10/20!!! We will have door prizes, and treats!!! No tricks!!!

Classic Vinyasa + Hello Fall Equinox!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! Hello Fall Equinox!!! We will practice our Classic Hatha in a circular formation this week with lots of Vinyasa Flow, and Power work. Our Sanskrit focus will be “Shram”, or hard work, and effort. Our mudra (hand gesture) will be grounding!!! Our meditation focus will “effortless effort”, and your meditation music is “White Dove” from Classical Piano for Yoga.

This week’s Yin practice will focus on balancing the Chakras, and each pose will be accompanied by the Tibetan bowl note for the chakra.

Sophie’s “Yoga for Grief” workshop is on Saturday, 9/29, from 1-3 p.m., and the cost is $25. We still have a few openings!!!

YFL will celebrate TWELVE YEARS the week of 10/15-10/20!!! Come join the celebration!!!

To “The Wall” & Beyond!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! Happy Monday, may your week be filled with laughter, love, and peace!!! This week’s practice will focus upon the use of “The Wall”, as a prop of resistance. We will improve our focus, alignment, and strength through the use of this wonderful tool!!! Our Sanskrit focus is AUM HREEM, or the “Eternal Presence” that exists in each present moment. It reveals the timeless quality of Source within every experience. Our supporting mudra (hand gesture) is the “DHANYA”, or position for meditation and contemplation. Your meditation focus will be “STAYING PRESENT”, and the accompanying music for your meditation sessions is Meditation I. This week’s Yin practice will emphasize poses that accentuate “good digestion”, and the featured poetry will come from David Whyte’s “House of Belonging”.

Here is what’s happening at YFL this week, and beyond: 1. 9/20 from 7:30-8:00 p.m., Community  Meditation-This month’s FREE session will expose’ Yoga Nidra. 2. The Seasonal Fall Equinox Drum Circle will meet on Sunday, 9/23, from 5-6 p.m., and it is FREE. 3. Sophie’s quarterly “Yoga For Grief” workshop will be on Saturday, 9/29, from 1-3 p.m, and is $25. 4. The next Tibetan Bowl Healing Sound Bath will be on Saturday, 12/8, and SPACE IS LIMITED. Sign up quickly!!! The cost is $25, and must be received by 11/8!!!

Let’s Restore, Renew, and Relax!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! This week we explore restoration through our practice of asana. It is time to let go, and relax. Our Sanskrit focus is “Siddho Hum”, or the awakening of our own healing power from within, which will bring us to a natural state of perfection, or our “essential quality” for life. The supporting mudra (hand gesture) is for “self-confidence” and “self-awareness”. Plant these thoughts in your heart, and they will provide a rich harvest. This week’s Yin practice will focus upon the hips, so the practice is called “Happy Hips”. We will be sustaining a variety of asana poses for opening our hip joints, and hip extensors, and rotators. As always, this practice is deep, and contemplative, and Deb will also incorporate a beautiful poetry reading.

It is a busy month at YFL!!! Reiki I training will be held this Sunday, 9/16, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and will be led by Kim Plancich. Deb’s monthly Sangha Meditation Group will meet on Thursday, 9/20, from 7:30-8:00 p.m., and will feature Yoga Nidra. This session is FREE!!! On Sunday, 9/23, Deb will lead the seasonal drum circle, as we welcome in the Fall Equinox. Bring a rhythm instrument, and a friend. This, too, is FREE!!! Sophie will offering her quarterly “Yoga for Grief” workshop on Saturday, 9/29, from 1-3 p.m., and the cost is $25. Registration is now open, so please drop-in, call, or email to register.

Weight Time and Yin for the Chakras

Greetings from YFL!!! This is the first full week of September, and you know what that means!!! It is “Weight Time”. Thus, we incorporate hand weights into the asana practice to develop tone, strength, and power to our muscles. The Sanskrit focus is “Ananda Hum”, which is to further develop our inherent sense of joy, contentment, and happiness. Our mudra (hand gesture) is the  “grounding mudra” for stability and connection. Our meditation focus is “Joy”, and may be focused upon while listening to James Hood’s, “Multidimensional”. If you choose to attend Deb’s Yin class this week, then prepare to be balanced through the seven chakras with asana and Tibetan bowls.

Bonus Week: Sukha-Stirha Plus (+)(Yoga Nidra)

Greetings from YFL!!! This is the 5th week of the month, thus that equates to Bonus Week!!! Deb’s physical practices will center around Sukha (Yin)-Stirha (Yang) Plus (+)=Yoga Nidra. The practice sequence will equalize the energy forces of yin and yang, and will conclude with Deb leading you into a deep subconscious level of the mind, or into the yogis’ sleepless sleep state via a script for Yoga Nidra. This will prepare you for a deeply relaxed state into savasana. Deb will provide more details in class, and this topic will be featured in her September YFL newsletter!!! The Sanskrit focus is “Metta”, or “lovingkindness”, for self and all sentient beings. The supporting mudra (hand gesture) is the “Earth Hand Pose”, or Prithivi, and it promotes sharpened sense of smell, liver cleansing, strong hair, nails, and bones. It helps with spirituality and mood changes. Our meditation focus is also “Metta”, or “lovingkindness”. The music I have provided on the blog for meditation this week is the classic, Claire de Lune.

Special events for September include the following: YFL will be OPEN on 9/1, but CLOSED Monday, 9/3, in observance of Labor Day.The September YFL Newsletter will be on your email desk at 10 a.m. on 9/1!!!  Reiki I training is on 9/16, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. @ $150, led by Kim. Deb will lead the Fall Equinox Drum Circle on 9/23, from 5 p.m.-6 p.m., and it is FREE. Sophie’s “Yoga for Grief” workshop will be on 9/29, from 1-3 p.m. @ $25. Deb is still working on our YFL Fall Retreat, and our second seasonal Tibetan Bowl Healing Concert will be sometime in December.

To the Wall and Back!!!

Greetings from YFL, and Happy Monday!!! This week we travel to the “Wall & Back” on our mats!!! That magical week of using the wall as our prop of resistance!!!  Why you ask?  The wall provides focus, alignment, and power to our asana practice!!! The weekly Sanskrit focus is “Sarvesham Shantir Bhavatu”, or “I wish peace for ALL BEINGS”!!! Our supporting mudra (hand gesture) is the grounding form. Our meditation focus is “Patience”, and you may listen to the music provided on this blog, while meditating each day. The music selection is James Hood’s “Eternity”.

Summer is winding down, and we will celebrate with a special event, The Sound Bath Concert, on 8/25, from 1-3 p.m. Registration is now CLOSED!!! If you registered, please make your payment by the end of this week, $25.

Beginning this Fall, Deb will be offering a monthly, FREE meditation class!!! It will be on the third Thursday of each month from 7:30-8:00 p.m. Each month will focus on a particular method and theme for achieving the “meditative state”. This class is OPEN to anyone that wants to meditate in the energy of a group setting. The first session will be on 9/20!!!

The FALL EQUINOX Drum Circle will happen on Sunday, 9/23, from 5-6 p.m., and it too, is FREE!!!

How to have a yoga body…have a body and go to yoga!!! :-)!!!

Aaahhh…Restore…Aaahhh!!!

Happy Monday!!! Aaahhh…it is time to restore, renew, and refresh this week!!! Prepare to relax, and stretch deeply with the use of time and props in your asana practice!!! Our Sanskrit focus is “Brahm Ananda”, or to rest in and share the energy of “happiness”. The supporting mudra (hand gesture) is “Dhanya”, or the hand position for evoking meditation and contemplation. Our  meditation focus will be “Siddhi”, or connecting to our “authentic self”, and detaching from ego. This establishes our deeper connection to “Source” leading to bliss. These three components: restoration, Dhanya, and Brahm Ananda, practiced together create our “Sankalpa” for the week, our intention for practice. Of course these are suggestions, and you should always create and tap into your specific goals, and resolves each time you step onto your mat.

This is the last week to sign-up for the Sound Bath concert, which will be happening on 8/25, from 1-3 p.m. The cost is $25. Kim’s Reiki I training is also fast approaching. It will be at YFL on 9/16, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and the cost is $150. The details are posted on the YFL Facebook page.

“Weight” a Minute!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! It is time to “Weight” a Minute this week, as we add the use of hand weights to our asana practice!!! We will be strengthening, sculpting, and toning!!! Our Sanskrit focus is “Rasa”, or the essence, taste, and flavor of our feelings and emotions. The energy that helps us set our intentions, and desires in life. Our mudra (hand gesture) is the classic “Ushas”, which connects us to all things good. Our meditation focus is “Stillness”, and is supported by the music of Bhakti, and their “Path of Devotion”.

Watch for the August YFL newsletter!!! It will appear on your email desk this Wednesday at around 10 a.m.!!! The Sound Bath Concert is fast approaching, and our limited spaces are filling up quickly. Classic Hatha: Let’s Flow!!!

Greetings from YFL!!! July is absolutely flying by!!! We are in the 4th week of the month, which means it is time “To Flow” with Classic Hatha Vinyasa + Power!!! This week’s physical practice is all about linking movement, breath, and power!!! Our Sanskrit focus is AUM Laghu Bhavam, which means “lightness”, and energy of space, and higher consciousness. Our mudra (hand gesture) is for “Vitality”, or the “Pick Me Up” mudra. The meditation focus is “Be Light”, and the supporting music is Enya’s “Watermark”.
