Eclectic Week!!!

photo-638

Greetings from YFL!!! This week is split between September and October, so rather than disrupt our weekly theme flow, I have created something new for this week!!! It is a blended or eclectic practice, which will incorporate some of everything: Yin, Flow, Weight-Bearing, Wall Work, and Restoration. You will leave the mat feeling strengthened, toned, balanced, re-energized, and restored.

Our Sanskrit focus is the word “MANTRA”, and broken down into its component parts means: Man=Man or mind “to think”, or the thought behind speech or action, and Tra=tool or instrument, “in this case” for thought.

Our Mudra focus is the “RUDRA” Mudra, say that ten times real fast!!! This mudra is for focusing on the Solar Plexus, or our center of strength, power, and joy.

Our Meditation focus is JOY, or “Mudhita”, and will be set to the music of Enya.

Remember we are in our Fall Schedule!!! Ian is offering an early bird class at 6 a.m. on Tuesdays-Gentle, Energizing Yoga. Leslie’s Tuesday class has a NEW START TIME of 12:30 p.m., and you need to register for PIYO prior to class via text to Sam. Her contact info is on the website schedule.

Our NINTH YFL ANNIVERSARY celebration is fast approaching!!! Stay tuned for the details!!!

The October newsletter will be on your email desk around 10 a.m. 10/1!!!

As always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb

A Traditional Practice

Greetings Yogis and Yoginis!!! This week we usher in the Fall Equinox with our traditional Classic Hatha Yoga practice. We will practice in a circle, and do the Mandala Namaskar Salutation. Our mudra focus is Ushas, which connects us to all things good, and our Sanskrit focus is Bhakti, or the “Yoga of devotion”.

Please join me in welcoming Ian to YFL, as a new instructor. He will be offering an early bird class on Tuesday mornings from 6-7:15 a.m. Ian will lead you through a gentle, yet energizing practice, that will prepare you for the day at hand. Please check out his bio on the website, and class description.

Sophie will be returning to her Monday evening class tonight, Yay!!! She will also cover Leslie’s Tu/Th classes this week. Make note that the Tuesday afternoon class begins at 12:30 p.m., rather than Noon.

Our meditation focus is “Devotion”, and will be set to the classical piano of “White Dove”.

As always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb

Meet me at the Wall Week!!!

Greetings Yogis and Yoginis!!! It is time to strengthen our practice, as we utilize the wall as a tool of resistance!!! Our Sanskrit focus is the wonderful term, Namaste’, which means, “The truth in me honors the truth in you”. Our hand gesture or mudra is “Vajrapradama”, or the gesture of unshakeable trust in Universal Source. Our mediation reflection is “Yoga”, or the union of the mind, body, and heart via the breath. Your meditation focus is set to the music of Ann Sweeten.

A reminder that YFL is celebrating National Yoga Month, and the Fall Equinox this Sunday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., 9/20/15. Deb will lead a very short, gentle yoga practice followed with chanting the Gayatri Mantra, and meditation. The celebration is FREE, and we encourage you to bring a friend. Our NEW FALL SCHEDULE begins next Monday. Check the website schedule page at the end of this week for any changes.

PLEASE NOTE: Sophie’s classes are canceled this week: 9/14 @ 6:00 p.m., and 9/15 & 9/17 @ 8:00 a.m.

As always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb

Greetings from YFL!!!

Let us Restore this week. Come join Deb for rejuvenation on the mat, as we relax, renew, and restore. A perfect practice for a blazing HOT week!!! It will help soothe and cool your mind, body, and spirit. Our Sanskrit focus is “DHARMA”, or to follow one’s own path of Truth. We will practice the classic mudra of “ANJALI”, or the prayer gesture, and our meditation focus is simply “BREATHE”,  set to the music of James Hood’s “Pure Ceremony”.

A new Intro to Yoga session begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. We will meet for four consecutive Tuesday evenings, and learn the fundamentals of yoga etiquette, asana, terminology, alignment, breathing, and “dos and don’ts” of practice. The cost is $40, which includes your course manual.
