This week we celebrate YFL’s 8th Anniversary!!! Come and win prize drawings all week during Deb’s classes!!! This week we will be restoring, relaxing, and renewing on our mats with “Restorative Yoga”.
Our Sanskrit focus is “Santosha”, or finding contentment in all that we experience, or at least trying to do so!!!
Our Mudra is “Ganesh”, which is the hand gesture for removal of obstacles, strengthening the heart and lungs, and improving circulation, and respiration.
Our Meditation focus is RELAX!!! Each moment that you feel tense in your daily routine just remember to stop, slow down your breath, and breath deeply. You will be surprised at what a positive difference this one adjustment will provide!!!
As always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb
I am fresh back from Sedona filled with energy and restoration!!! We had a wonderful retreat, and I can’t wait to share the stories and experiences and photos with all of you!!!
This week we return to strengthening, toning, and sculpting by bearing our own body weight, and using external hand weights. Our Sanskrit focus is “Sukham Stirham Asanam”, or “Sweet, steady, asana”. This is the blending of ease and strength within each pose we take, and is the true essence of any yoga practice.
Our weekly mudra is the HRIM, or heart mudra, which evokes and invokes a releasing of the heartstrings to promote Oneness, Unity, and connection.
Sophie’s “Seasonal Transition Ayurvedic” workshop is this Saturday from 2-4 p.m. @ a cost of $25/person. She will cover the Ayurvedic perspectives of staying balanced through a seasonal change with diet, yoga, and meditation practices. There is still time to sign-up!!!
Next week YFL will be celebrating its 8th-Year anniversary, so come join the fun, and activities!!! As always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb
Yes, it is time for “Wall” yoga once again, as we utilize the wall as a prop of resistance creating a force for deeper use of the muscles through the asana practice. Monday of this week begins our NEW FALL SCHEDULE, which is posted on the website. Please note our new classes with Sophie, Samantha, and Jen!!!
This week’s mudra focus is the “Vajrapradama” gesture for evoking “unshakeable trust”, and our Sanskrit focus is “Rama”, which means pleasing or delightful.
Our meditation focus is ambient sound: trees rustling, wind blowing, music, children laughing, or whatever the environment sends your way. Focus on the vibrational sounds around you.
Have a super week, and as always we can’t wait to see you on the mat.—Namaste’, Deb
This week we focus on shifting the power through the chakras via our flow of asanas. This week’s practice will channel more confidence, creativity, and joy into your practice, your day, and your week.
The Sanskrit focus is CHAKRA, which means energy wheel, and our mudra is the “Yoga Mudra Body Fold”, which promotes energy flow through the entire chakra system for balance.
Our meditation focus is AUM SHANTI-peace as we celebrate Global Meditation on Sunday at NOON at the studio. The 3rd Kirtan Concert is at 3 p.m. We hope to see you for both events. Have a great week.—Namaste’, Deb
Are you ready to relax?!!! It is that time at YFL for renewing, restoring, and relaxing with our monthly “Restorative Practice”. As the photo reminds us, “You’re only one class away from a good mood.”
Our Sanskrit focus is: VAK, or “The Power of Speech”. This focus reminds us to be mindful of our thoughts, our speech, our actions.
Our weekly mudra focus: PRAN MUDRA, or the gesture of enhancing our “Life Force”.
This week I begin adding a weekly meditation focus to the YFL blog. Let your Dharana ( point of focus) rest on the mantra, SHUM, which means “I am inspired.” Develop your breath rhythm, and begin to silently repeat the mantra, as you visualize things that inspire you: art, people, places, nature, etc. You might even listen to music that inspires you for this mediation. Sit comfortably with SHUM for 5 to 30 minutes.—Aum Shanti, Deb
P.S.—Listen to the Ann Sweetens’ “Moment in Time” while you meditate, which I added into this blog. Enjoy!!!
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: YFL will be hosting the “Global Meditation” on 9/21 @ NOON!!! Meditators around the world will be gathering to meditate together at noon their regional time, and focus on World Peace. Deb’s goal is to fill YFL with meditators, and spill out into the courtyard. Bring something comfortable to sit on outside, if our gathering is too large for the studio. Following our meditation together we can proceed to lunch, and then enjoy the Jain Hanuman Kirtan Concert at 3 p.m. So, please mark your calendars for this special event, and plan to attend.—Namaste’, Deb
Greetings Yogis and Yoginis!!! Happy September!!! Our new Fall schedule will begin on 9/22, and will feature two new instructors. Stay tuned for details later this month!!!

This week we return to the wall, and all of the advantages that it adds to our practice. Use of the wall as a prop provides an antagonistic strength to our poses, which then transfers to use of our muscles in the asana practice without the wall. It also helps us to refine our balance and alignment. This week’s practice will also incorporate the use of chairs at the wall. None of this means an easy, lazy, or wimpy practice, quite the contrary. You may discover muscles that you didn’t know you had this week!!!
Our Sanskrit focus is “SHUM”, which means “I am inspired”. Our mudra is “SHANKH”, or the shell, and applies to our inner temple, in which our Source light shines. This mudra promotes opening this temple, and letting our light shine through connection.
Samantha Keith’s PIYO workshop is this Saturday, 8/23 @ $12, from 1:30-3:00 p.m. She will be introducing a practice style that infuses pilates and yoga. It will be a strong practice, but appropriate for all levels.
We can’t wait to see you on the mat this week!!! (8/18-8/23)—Namaste’, Deb
GREETINGS YOGIS AND YOGINIS!!! After a rigorous week of weight-bearing we will counter this week with “Restorative Yoga”. Remembering that restorative does not equate with easy or wimpy!!! In restorative poses we stay longer, go deeper, and prop to intensify the stretch with safety. It is a deeply contemplative form of asana practice as well. Our Mudra is “APAN”, which will promote the flow of energy through the physical body, and aid in balancing our minds. Our Sanskrit focus is “ADBHUTA”, or “Wonder”. It is one of the 8 types of Rasa, which translates as “The Essence of Things”.
KIRTAN!!! Our first co-sponsored Kirtan Concert is Sunday, August 17th @ 4 p.m.!!! It will be on the grassed, gazebo area just behind Painted Earth, and it is a FREE concert, although donations are greatly appreciated!!! SEE YOU THERE!!!
We hope you enjoyed the August newsletter, and listening to the video clip of the Clapping Monkeys!!! The first of our co-sponsored Kirtan concerts is just around the corner: 8/17 @ 4 p.m. on the lawn at the gazebo behind Painted Earth!!! See you there!!!
This week’s asana practice will focus on strength, endurance, power, toning, and of course stretching. We will be bearing our own body weight, and using hand weights for part of the practice. Our Mudra is “Ganesha”, remover of all obstacles. Our Sanskrit focus is three blessings: Shanti, Shakit, Shambu, or Peace, Power, and Plenty (Abundance). We will also be chanting the bija sound for the solar plexus chakra, RAM, to evoke power and strength.
We can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb
Good Monday Morning Yogis and Yoginis!!! This week’s practice is Classic Hatha Yoga!!! So, back to basics!!! Our Sanskrit focus is HATHA: Ha=Sun or Prana, THA=Moon/Mind or Mental Energy, both Seed (Bija) Sound Mantras. Our Mudra is the USHAS, which connects us to “ALL THINGS GOOD”!!! So come to YFL and unlock the door to peace, tranquility, and joy!!! We can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb
Good Monday Morning Yogis and Yoginis!!! This week’s physical practice will focus on opening the heart by untying the heartstrings!!! Our Sanskrit focus is Hreem, or the seed sound for the heart, and our mudra is the “Chin”, or Universal mudra for connecting to energy. As always, we can’t wait to see you on the mat!!!—Namaste’, Deb
Greetings Yogis and Yoginis!!! Yes, this is Wall Week at YFL. We will take our practice back to the wall to increase resistance within our asanas!!! Our Sanskrit focus is truly what practicing yoga is all about: “Pran Sakti”, or to harness our innate inner power and energy. Our mudra is the “Pran”, which serves to ground, stabilize, and energize our body systems.
I am also excited to announce that in collaboration with the Temecula Yoga Collective, YFL is sponsoring three Kirtan Concerts this summer!!! We are hosting these events at the Gazebo behind the Painted Earth on the grass lawn. Bring a towel or beach chair, and be ready to chant your heart out!!!
